Collaborative Mural, 2019
Just a week before the world shut down, Kate DeCiccio and Studio Syrenka joined forces with students to create a collaborative environmental mural. Drawing inspiration from Poland’s unique flora and fauna, 9th grade students developed original illustrations, which Kate wove together into a striking large-scale design for the cafeteria wall. Alongside the mural, 10th grade students researched young environmental advocates and produced stencil portraits on canvas. These portraits were displayed in front of the mural and refreshed each year, introducing a new set of environmentally themed artworks to the space.

Collaborative Mural, 2018
Studio Syrenka teamed up with Mike Johnston, aka “Truth,” a street artist from Austin, Texas, to create a three-panel mural on wooden boards — an ideal option for schools that prefer not to paint directly on the walls. Inspired by the community’s favorite things about Warsaw, students brainstormed ideas and worked with the Truth team to develop a final mash-up design. Organized as a school-wide initiative, this project welcomed participation from the entire community, making the mural both a celebration of local pride and a shared creative experience.
